One of the great things about Manuel Antonio--and also one of its challenges--is the fact that there is SO much to do here. From chocolate-making workshops to a spice plantation tour, from extreme canopy tours to sunset sailing, there is something for everyone and every age.
We are an international community of both locals and expats with varied backgrounds--and literally decades of combined experience living, working and exploring Manuel Antonio. When asked what 5 tours everyone would recommend to someone who had never been to the area--the response was as diverse as people's tastes.
There were, however, a few commonalities. Here are the winning recommendations:
#1 - Canopy Tour: Even though it's what everyone says, the canopy tour is a must-do!
#2 - National Park Guided Tour: There's a reason why Manuel Antonio national park is the #1 most visited park in the country!
#3 - Sunset Sail: There is no better way to appreciate the Pacific ocean and coastline...
#4 - Rafting (May-Dec): The area has 2 very beautiful and exciting rivers: the Naranjo and the Savegre.
#5 - Waterfall Tour: Whether Nauyaca or Los Campesinos, swimming in a rainforest waterfall pool is one of the most pleasant experiences in the world.
In the end--getting a good variety of experiences the way to go. Do at least one adventure tour (canopy tour), one ocean tour (sunset sail) and also be sure to visit the national park. Spend plenty of time at the beach. Experience something you've never done before!
